POPULARITY:

Field hockey is gaining more popularity every year! Most of the surrounding towns have a youth program and at the high school level, there are 79 teams that compete in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. 

COST:

Registration is approximately $350. For field players, gear prices can range but for around $110 you can get everything you need. At the youth level, goalies do not need to buy their own equipment they can use the gear provided by Simsbury Youth Field Hockey. 

EASY TO LEARN:

Anyone can learn field hockey if they are willing to put in the time and effort!

GLOBAL REACH:

Field hockey is an international sport. It is popular worldwide and a prominent Olympic sport. 

INJURIES:

One of the most common injuries, as with many sports, are concussions, see our concussion page for more information on concussions and concussion prevention. 

PHYSICAL FITNESS:

Players will be more successful at the sport if they can demonstrate endurance and agility.

• Mouthguard
• Shin guards
